How it works

We begin by looking at the components of true, authentic happiness, drawing from the research conducted by the positive psychologists. We explore where happiness exists for people and how to generate it in all aspects of life. Afterall happy people live longer, work more efficiently and enjoy better relationships.

Then we look at the relationship between happiness and stress. Tension is not something we should seek to eradicate or extinguish. At the right times it can be extremely useful. To some people it is an essential component of their success. In fact for all of us our greatest achievements have come with a side order of stress. You could even say those achievements were because of it we just need to learn to enjoy it.

Whilst we shouldn't make light of the damage that stress can cause to people's lives we should also be able to see the funny side. Basil Fawlty and Homer Simpson are two of the greatest comic characters ever created. But would they be funny if they weren't stressed, or at least if they didn't react to stress in the way that they do?

This is the essential factor, it is how we react and respond to stressful situations, how we see and think about them that causes the damage.

But if we can increase happiness we reduce the negative effects of tension without even trying.

These factors sit at the heart of the New Mind Partnership's programme.

The programme works on a number of different levels. Each workshop has been carefully crafted so that some of the change occurs consciously and some of it happens at an unconscious level, without the participants even having to do anything.
